#24 [ I met my role model/future mentor ]

Mr. Sam Crowley. I'm sure 99% of you have never heard of this guy and that's okay. This guy makes BANK with or without you knowing who he is. He believes that we're all being brainwashed to believe days actually have meaning. He believes that Everyday is Saturday.. or it can be, if you take massive action and follow your dreams.

I've been listening to this guy for over a year now and you would not believe how excited I get when I see a new podcast on iTunes from him. "Hope" and "a way out", is what this guy brings to soo many people and I'm happy to say he's brought the same to me.

Now let's rewind a bit, and look at things surface level. "Shannon, what the heck are you doing taking a picture with this old white guy near a Christmas tree?". Well let me tell you: Back in December, Sam announced he was coming to LA for a speaking gig. He's always shamelessly self-promoting himself which is something I truly admire because I struggle with promoting myself. Anyways, I wasn't able to go to the live event but I sent Sam a dm on Instagram (wth, Shannon) and HE WROTE BACK. He offered to meet me in a hotel lobby and just chat with a random podcast listener. Isn't it crazy how technology can bring two complete strangers together? I'm prettty sure people were thinking some strange things when they saw a young black woman chatting it up on the couch with an older white man but that didn't matter to me, or him.

Moving on, before I met up with Sam, I was struggling on where to focus with a lot of things. I didn't know if I should focus on the YouTube channel, or the blog, or my closet sales. I was all over the place. Sam took time out of his day to listen to me, just listen to me blab about all the random ideas in my head and then he did something. He helped me choose one thing to focus on, and it helped! The best thing about this meetup was that Sam didn't try to sell me anything. He literally just wanted to hear me out and help. And that is what he surely did.

A month and a half later, I am so happy to announce that I am ALMOST ready to drop my first e-book and it's all thanks to Sam.

Sam, I'm sure you are going to read this because you are AWESOME. But I just wanted to say thank you for being a role model to me and so many people. I look up to you not because we relate to anything on a surface level issues but because we relate to a mindset that not many people understand.

If you are not Sam and have read this far then I'm glad I still have you're attention. Please be sure to check out the "Everyday is Saturday" podcast on iTunes and give Sam 15 minutes of your time. You and your future will not regret it.
